Using food rewards, especially when paired with a marker, helps us to communicate clearly with our pets! While there are oodles of treats available on the market, it's important to choose the best food reward for your pet's needs. Watch this video to learn more about how to choose a food reward for your pet:

Still looking for some treat ideas? Check out some of my favorites here:

American Natural Premium Dog Food

American Natural Premium Fish Recipe with Zucchini & Carrots, Dog Treats, Cat Treats, Adventure Cat, Adventure Dog, Adventure Dog Training, Adventure Cat Training, Cedar Rapids Dog Training, Cedar Rapids Cat Training

My favorite treats to use for our dogs? Their kibble from their meal! It ensures they won't go over on calories when we are learning a new behavior and helps me notice if they are at or nearing their threshold.

With wide variety of protein, grain, and other ingredient options, American Natural Premium food has something for everyone! Plus, it's made right in the Midwest! We feed our dogs their Fish Recipe with Zucchini & Carrots. Every pet is different. Different diets work best for different pets (just like different diets work for different humans!). Consult with your veterinarian if you have any questions about what to feed your pet.

My favorite treats to use for our cats? Their kibble from their meal! It ensures they won't go over on calories when we are learning a new behavior and helps me notice if they are at or nearing their threshold.

As Azula gets older, we want to make sure her diet continues to meet her needs so we currently feed her Purina Pro Plan Prime Plus kibble and she is thriving on it!

Liq Lickable Training Treat for Cats

Two bottles of Liq Liquid Treat for Cats, Dog Treats, Cat Treats, Adventure Cat, Adventure Dog, Adventure Dog Training, Adventure Cat Training, Cedar Rapids Dog Training, Cedar Rapids Cat Training

This is my FAVORITE way to reward Azula and Mai during training! Quick, no mess, and no 20 minute break for chewing a teeny, tiny treat.

These will streamline your training sessions so easily! Remember, if you are using a lot of food rewards, you'll want to keep an eye on your cat's overall calorie intake.

Single Ingredient Treats

A bucket of Stewart Freeze Dried Beef Liver treats, Dog Treats, Cat Treats, Adventure Cat, Adventure Dog, Adventure Dog Training, Adventure Cat Training, Cedar Rapids Dog Training, Cedar Rapids Cat Training

Ok, ok... you caught me! I absolutely do give my pets treats besides their own kibble occasionally. I aim to stick with single ingredient treats to make sure that they can digest them easily. Our dogs and cats go nuts for freeze dried liver! Fair warning: These are STINKY treats! You'll definitely want to store them in a sealed container. You can make your own single ingredient treats!
